Relationships

The field every other contact app is missing.

Relationships — shown in the TreeLinker Android app

Short answer

TreeLinker records how two contacts are related using seven types: parent, child, sibling, spouse, friend, relative and other. Recording one direction creates the reverse automatically. As the tree grows, the app proposes relationships the existing ones imply, each with a confidence score and an explanation of which links produced it — and asks you to pick the type when it is ambiguous.

Reciprocal by construction

You never maintain both halves of a relationship. This is what keeps a family map from rotting over years of edits.

Suggestions, never silent writes

Inferred relationships are proposals. Each carries a confidence score and a sentence explaining the reasoning, and nothing enters your tree without your acceptance.

What relationships unlock

Once relationships exist, the tree can be drawn, a caller can be placed, tags can be suggested, and a tree can be shared in a way that means the same thing on someone else's phone.

Frequently asked questions

Can I define a custom relationship type?

There are seven built-in types, including 'other' for anything that does not fit.

What does the confidence score mean?

How strongly your existing relationships imply the suggested one. It is shown alongside the reasoning so you can judge it yourself.
