TreeLinker is a private family tree and memories app for Android. It helps you map your family relationships, capture memories (photos, notes, dates) tied to the people you love, share moments with family groups, and never miss a birthday — all stored privately on your device first.

Yes, TreeLinker is free to download and use. All core features — family tree, memories, contacts, groups, and reminders — are included at no cost.

Yes. TreeLinker is built local-first — your family tree, contacts, and memories are stored directly on your device. You can view and edit your data with no internet connection. An internet connection is only required when syncing to the cloud (optional), receiving push notifications, or connecting with other registered users.

After creating your profile, tap the "+" button on the Family Tree screen to add a family member. You can set their name, relationship to you (parent, sibling, spouse, child, cousin, etc.), and optional details like birthday and contact information. The app draws the connections between everyone automatically.

Yes. TreeLinker can read your device's address book with your permission. When you add a family member, you can select them directly from your contacts instead of typing their details manually. Your full contact list is processed on-device — it is not uploaded to our servers.

TreeLinker supports a wide range of relationship types including parent, child, sibling, spouse/partner, grandparent, grandchild, aunt/uncle, niece/nephew, cousin, and custom relationships. Relationships are automatically reciprocal — if you set someone as your parent, you appear as their child.

Open a person's profile from the Family Tree or Contacts screen, then tap "Add Memory." You can write notes, attach a photo, add a date, and set a location. Memories are stored privately on your device by default and are only visible to others if you choose to share them to a group.

Family groups are private, invitation-only shared spaces within TreeLinker. You create a group, give it a name (e.g., "Smith Family" or "Dad's 70th Birthday"), and invite family members who have the app. Members can view and post shared memories in the group. You control who is invited and can leave or delete the group at any time.

By default, nothing is backed up — your data stays on your device. If you enable cloud sync in Settings, your relationship graph, profile information, and shared group memories are mirrored to our secure cloud database (Neo4j AuraDB). You can disable cloud sync at any time and your local data is unaffected.

On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?" and enter your email address. You'll receive a 6-digit reset code by email. Enter the code in the app, then set a new password. Reset codes expire after 24 hours and lock after 5 incorrect attempts. Check your spam folder if you don't see the email within a few minutes.

Account deletion is done directly in the app: go to Settings → Delete Account, confirm your password, and tap "Permanently Delete." This immediately removes all your local data and queues your remote data for deletion. Visit our Delete Account page for full details and a step-by-step guide.

Yes. Photos are stored as encrypted binary data in your device's local database. If cloud sync is enabled, they are transmitted over HTTPS/TLS and stored in our secure cloud database. We never use your photos for training AI models, advertising, or any purpose other than displaying them to you within the app.
